Organisations and businesses to help you grow

Cascoda is a semiconductor company that designs and develops wireless technology for the Internet of Things. This technology is used to provide monitoring, automation and control to enable smart energy-efficient homes, offices and industrial plants. Cascoda’s innovation has the potential to address the global challenges of climate change and energy security.

20150402_144950The business is based in Southampton Science Park, which is accessible by bus or bike from the University of Southampton. Cascoda has a close relationship with the University of Southampton, through participation in a variety of research programmes and associated activities, and was co-founded by Microelectronics alumnus Bruno Johnson. Bruno is continuing to support enterprise at the University as a Future Worlds mentor and his full profile can be viewed in the mentor section of this website.

Cascoda runs a comprehensive internship programme. On this programme, interns are given ownership of a project with a clear goal. They are guided through their project by a dedicated mentor, who may well have been in the same position some years earlier. The mentor will hold periodic reviews and help build confidence through achievement. Interns also participate in weekly group meetings, so that participants can see the big picture. Lastly, the business does its best to ensure that its interns get recognition. In 2014, one of Cascoda’s interns won a University-based prize for excellence in recognition for his outstanding contribution to the company.

CA8210 sideInternships can take the form of a four-week internship over Easter, a 12-week internship over the summer, or a part-time internship during term-time. Most interns enjoy their experience so much that they come back to Cascoda in successive years. This has given Cascoda a fantastic record of hiring interns into the company.

Internship and graduate opportunities are open to students that study Computer Science, Electronic Engineering or related disciplines.

Cascoda also seeks highly motivated graduate engineers to help make, market and sell the world’s most advanced wireless technologies. Graduates are rewarded with a competitive salary and a comprehensive stock-option plan.
